TEHRAN, Iran declared on Sunday start of constructing the second unit at Bushehr nuclear reactor in cooperation with Russia that finalized the venture first phase in 2013.
The students’ news agency, ISNA, quoted spokesperson of the Iranian Nuclear Energy Agency Bahrouz Kamalvandi as saying that the construction of the second unit was projected to cost USD 242 million, adding that the work would end by 2025.
Iranian companies will execute the second and third stages of the project and Iranian and Russian equipment will be installed.
The third construction phase would begin in 18 months, he added.
The venture is envisaged to secure more than 3,000 megawatts of nuclear electricity.
