Jordan decries Israel settlement decision – spokesman

AMMAN, Jordan on Wednesday condemned a recent Israeli decision to construct 1,936 new settlement units in the West Bank, said a spokesman.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Wednesday condemned the Israeli authorities’ announcement to build 1936 new settlement units in the occupied West Bank,” the ministry’s Spokesman Daifallah Fayez said in a statement.

He denounced Israeli settlements as “illegal” since they breach international law and international humanitarian law.

The spokesman called on the international community to live up to its responsibilities, and take all necessary measures to halt the Israeli settlement policy.

Israeli occupying authorities on Monday approved the construction of 1,936 settlement homes in the West Bank.
