James Mattis, US Defence Secretary, Friday vowed to continue the fight against so-called Islamic State (IS) till the group is totally crushed.
“In the global fight against ISIS we will continue to carry out operations necessary to crush the physical caliphate and prevent a resurgent of ISIS,” he told a press conference after a meeting of NATO defence ministers this afternoon, “We will be unrelenting in our efforts together with like-minded nations. We will target ISIS around the world. This remains a global fight,” he said.
To support these efforts NATO will be starting a training mission in Iraq in cooperation with the Iraqi government, said Mattis.
