Saudi Arabia condemns Turkish “aggression” in NE Syria

RIYADH, An official source at the Saudi Foreign Ministry strongly denounced “the aggression” launched by the Turkish army against areas in northeast Syria.

“This aggression is a flagrant offensive on the unity, independence and sovereignty of the Syrian territories,” the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) quoted the source as saying on Wednesday.

“This aggression represents a threat to the regional security and peace,” the source said, underscoring the importance of guaranteeing the safety of the brotherly Syrian people and Syria’s stability, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Earlier today, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the Turkish army, together with the Syrian National Army, have just launched the “Operation Peace Spring” against PKK/YPG elements and so-called Islamic State (IS) terrorists in northeast Syria.
