WASHINGTON, US President Donald Trump welcomed Wednesday what he described as the “big success” along the Syrian-Turkish border.
“Big success on the Turkey/Syria Border. Safe Zone created!” Trump tweeted.
He added “ceasefire has held and combat missions have ended,” he also noted, “Kurds are safe and have worked very nicely with us. Captured (Islamic State) prisoners secured.” Trump will also be making a statement on Syria at the White House later today.
Turkey announced today that it will not be resuming “at this stage” its military operation in northern Syria after the ceasefire was expired on Tuesday. The Russian Defense Ministry also announced that its military police will be patrolling parts of northeastern Syria as it assists in the withdrawal of Kurdish forces, where under an agreement with Turkey, it will jointly patrol the border.
