WASHINGTON, US President Donald Trump said Friday that his administration did not agree to Chinese demands to cancel the customs tariffs on Chinese products in the recent trade talks.
“They’d like to have a rollback. I haven’t agreed to anything. China would like to get somewhat of a rollback, not a complete rollback, because they know I won’t do it,” he told reporters at the White House.
“We’re getting along very well with China. They want to make a deal. Frankly, they want to make a deal a lot more than I do. I’m very happy right now. We’re taking in billions of dollars,” Trump added.
President Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping where scheduled to sign a long-awaited interim trade on the sidelines of a now-canceled mid-November summit of Asia-Pacific leaders in Chile.
The date has been put off until December and the new venue could be the US state of Iowa.
