UN envoy concerned over Houthi attacks on Saudi oil facilities

ADEN, UN special envoy for Yemen Martin Griffiths on Saturday expressed his profound concern over the drone attacks launched by Yemeni Houthis on two Saudi oil facilities.

This military escalation by the Houthi militia is “very worrying,” he said in a statement.

He called on all parties to exercise self-restraint, and not to recur these incidents as they “pose a serious threat to regional security”.

Repeating such attacks complicates the situation and endangers the UN-led peace process, he noted.

Earlier in the day, Saudi Interior Ministry said Houthi drones targeted two laboratories, affiliated to Saudi Arabia’s oil company (Aramco). The attacks set fire to these laboratories, but the concerned bodies controlled the fire.
