Welsh delegation’s Kuwait visit aims to push trade ties – minister

KUWAIT, A Welsh delegation’s visit to Kuwait on Tuesday is a chance to strengthen bilateral trade ties through establishing new links between the two countries, said a Welsh minister.

Kuwaiti markets are among the most vibrant and lucrative ones in the region, said Minister of International Relations and the Welsh Language Eluned Morgan on Sunday, who pointed out that viable investment opportunities await Welsh companies in the Gulf state.

“This trade mission will provide an ideal platform for eight innovative Welsh businesses to build on existing links and establish new partnerships,” she said in a statement.

On what the visit would entail, the minister said the Welsh contingent will be “attending a number of meetings and receptions,” as part of efforts to explore opportunities for joint projects, she added.

“Trade missions are an important part of our ongoing commitment to sell Wales to the world and highlight that we are very much open for business,” the minister emphasized.

In the time period between 2013 to 2018, Welsh exports to the Middle East and North Africa surged to 5.8 billion pounds (USD 7.1 billion).
